~Buttons~

I seen a photo of a laundry sign a few months ago and cannot find it to save my life.  It was pink with raised letters and roses.  So if any of you know what I am talking about, please let me know.  It has driven me crazy!

So, I had to improvise and just come up with my very own.
There is a little story that goes with all of the buttons  I used.....
Mammaw used to save buttons, she kept them in a large jar in a back room.  I asked her one day, years ago, if she'd give them to me.  Let me say that the look she gave me was like "do I have to really answer that?"  I knew she didn't want to so I didn't push the issue.  A few months later, she told me that she wanted me to have them.  What an honor!  She knew that I loved buttons and I would cherish them.

So I made a jar light with them back when I loved primitives.

I've used a lot of the buttons throughout the years.  All of them have a story...some I remember when I was a girl.  So you know now that these buttons are   so very precious to me.

Now back to the sign....I counted how many I hot glued on the sign and it was 171!!!  My hand was tired and my fingers were burnt.  But now, that sign means so much more to me.  I know Mammaw would get a big smile seeing how I used her "buttons".

And when I do that dreaded chore, I'll have a bit of her with me, making me smile.

  5. I have a stash of those special buttons, too--some are from clothes that she made for you and some are even from my own growing-up years. Those buttons are more precious than gold, and I know that Mom is proud of your creative touch in using them.
